Russian Solitaire: instructions and practice

Make Russian Solitaire your next activity in the game library. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Yukon-style deal, same-suit building, no stock. Free solo play, no wagering.

One thing to notice as you play

Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart. Use the example to check your reasoning.

What you are aiming for

Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Read that aim before choosing your first action. Check the rules when you are unsure.

A walkthrough of the rules

  1. Move any face-up card and its tail onto the next higher rank of the same suit. Kings fill empty columns.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Choosing and moving on screen

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

Learn from a sample situation

A heart 6 fits a heart 7, not a spade 7. Apply the same reasoning to the position in your own round. Look for the relevant detail.

An important reminder

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Compare the situation with the worked example. Before your first action, say what you are trying to achieve. Then compare the result with the goal.
