Find your footing in Klondike Solitaire
Read the aim of Klondike Solitaire, then make your first move. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Look at what changes after your first action. Begin with the solo mode shown on the page. Use the example below to understand a decision.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
A small practice goal
After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again. Refer to the controls when needed.
The objective of a round
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Notice how the game responds to your input.
From the start of a round
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
How your actions work
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. On a smaller screen, keep the active part of the board within view. A new-round button replaces the current round.
Work through an example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Look for the relevant detail.
Watch out for this
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
